The OV - 1 is a high level graphic depiction of missions, operations, organizations and geographical distribution of assets. Assets and organizations contained in the OV - 1 must be taken from the sender/receiver field in the IER. Although it may not be possible to show all sender/receivers in the IERs, those that best represent the Joint interfaces should be displayed. The OV - 1 is intended for use by high level decision makers as a means of orienting and focusing detailed discussions. Only one OV - 1 is required.

System View

What is the purpose of the System Interface Description - 1 (SV - 1)?

Example SV-1

The SV - 1 links together the operational and system views by depicting system assignments and their interfaces to the operational nodes in the OV - 1. The interfaces can be shown as system nodes, systems, or components of systems. Simply put, it is a generalized representation of a communications path or network. Supporting text may be used with or in the graphic that provides details concerning the capabilities present in each system. Descriptions could include the procedures governing system implementation, applications within the system, services that support the application and the means by which the system processes, manipulates, stores and exchanges the data. The SV - 1 may show internodal, intranodal or intrasystem perspectives.
